Help us reopen the Church of Jesus Eucharist.
This church was dreamed of by Chiara Lubich , the founder of the Focolare Movement , and was inaugurated on April 26, 1998, in Mariápolis Ginetta, Vargem Grande Paulista, a city in greater São Paulo.

The church has been closed since March 2024 , and as a result, the celebrations and activities that used to take place there had to be transferred, for the safety of the entire community that frequents it.

UNDERSTAND THE ROOF PROBLEM
Em março de 2024, foram identificadas rachaduras nas vigas de madeira que sustentam o
telhado. A ação do tempo comprometeu a estrutura de um espaço que acolhe mais de 400
pessoas. Por segurança, a Igreja foi imediatamente interditada.
A comunidade precisou se reorganizar rapidamente. As celebrações passaram a acontecer
na Casa dos Sacerdotes, sob uma tenda montada para acolher os fiéis. Em meio às
limitações, permaneceu firme a unidade — testemunho silencioso de uma fé construída
além das paredes.
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
There are two solutions that are being carefully studied. The first would be to completely remove the roof and restructure the roof and wooden beams, using a modern and safe material and technique.
In the second solution , it was thought of not changing the tile structure, and to simplify the work, just wrap the wooden beams with a metal structure, capable of supporting the weight of the roofs.
FIND OUT WHAT THE EXPENSES ARE
Both solutions require a high investment, which has already begun with the installation of a shoring system on all the wooden beams of the roof, at a monthly cost of R$8,000.00, paid for with the church's reserve fund.
In addition, there are the costs of the study reports and problem solving, which, despite being charged at a lower price than the market rate, in consideration of the cause, still amount to around R$20,000.00 per study. And so far, three of them have been carried out.
And so that the church's activities could continue temporarily, a location was adapted, which is in the priests' house, in Mariápolis Ginetta.
Uma comunhão que atravessa fronteiras
Para viabilizar a obra, foi lançada a Campanha do Telhado. E a comunhão se tornou
concreta.
No Brasil e no exterior, comunidades inteiras se mobilizaram. Confira:
Uma senhora adquiriu um andador com desconto e decidiu colocar em comum o valor
economizado, destinando R$ 300,00 à campanha.
Uma família da Mariápolis promoveu um jantar delicioso em sua casa para alguns amigos e
arrecadou R$1.165,36.
As Gen4* de Campinas rifaram dois ursinhos e arrecadaram R$ 500,00.
*4ª geração dos Focolares, compreende crianças de 4 a 9 anos.
Em Jacareí (SP), a comunidade promoveu a “atividade das panquecas”
. Venderam cerca de
60 bandejas. Ajudaram pessoas desempregadas, contribuíram com outras necessidades e
com a reforma.
“Certos de que a comunhão atrai a providência necessária, continuamos em
unidade e oração”
, testemunham.
Em Piracicaba (SP), a venda de canelones rendeu R$ 200,00.
Uma senhora, após 60 anos de dependência do cigarro, decidiu parar de fumar e destinou
R$ 1.340,00 economizados à Campanha.
Crianças venderam pulseirinhas e sachês perfumados durante encontro para Famílias na
Mariápolis, a arrecadação chegou a R$ 400,00.
Na Austrália, uma feijoada organizada pela comunidade gerou R$ 5.553,50.
Uma Voluntária de Deus* do Pará que esteve na Mariápolis por alguns meses, produziu
sabão em pasta caseiro para vender e o apurado foi destinado à campanha.
Foram incontáveis iniciativas. E, junto aos recursos, subiram também orações. Cada gesto,
visível ou escondido, sustenta essa obra.
